A user experience study made in cooperation with Yle. The goal of the study was to understand how to elevate the experience of social viewing for people aged 50+ and to find out what kind of virtual social viewing platform would work best for the age group. The research was carried out as a data-driven survey.
The study includes a compilation of concrete means for creating a platform for social viewing created with design tools such as affinity analysis. The results of the study further supported the development of Yles Kaverikatsomo service. Additionally the study shows which current major live treaming services work best with which virtual social platforms for shared watching experiences. Based on the findings of the study, Yle Kaverikatsomo service can be made more user-friendly for all users, also those outside the target group of the study.
